Skin discoloration, swelling, and/or minor pain may occur after the procedure. These are only temporary and will subside.
To minimize swelling, apply an ice pack for the first few hours after the procedure, leaving the pack on for ten minutes and off for five minutes at a time.
The day after the surgery, remember to use lukewarm water to rinse the treated area after each meal. Do this for the first three days after the procedure.
Do not eat hard or chewy foods; eat only foods that are soft.
Remember to get plenty of rest and eat normally. It is especially important to eat liquids such as soup, milk, and fruit juices. If desired, take a vitamin supplement. Do not sleep on the operated area for two to three days.
DO NOT use your fingers to raise your lips and inspect the treated area.
DO NOT brush your teeth near the site of the surgery, but do brush the rest of your teeth.
In many cases, patients experience a temporary loss of feeling in the surgical site. Additionally, the tooth may feel loose.
Remember to take all medications as prescribed and instructed.
